Family System (Cool way to deal with bloodlines and such!)

READ THE WHOLE THREAD, MORE COOL IDEAS BELOW!

If there are going to be bloodlines, there should be what I would call a "Family System." If you wish to be born into a bloodline you must contact a player that is already in that bloodline before making a character. (There would be a list of people in bloodlines.) Then upon consent on both sides, through a mail system, the new player can be born to the player already in the bloodline. Then in the new players info it would say what bloodline they're in and who their parent is. This system could allow for applying for certain bloodlines and seeing if your characteristics fit with the clan. If you are accepted you now receive the unique powers. This system would allow for families, that could battle for dominance. The head of the family could also be the final say in acceptances. Of course there would be a limit on how many children you can have. This system would create interesting clan history as the game progresses and filter out the nonserious players from having player specific powers.

But to avoid the above catastrophe, I suggest tracing lineage to NPC ancestors, kind of like how Nyshn has his clan set up.

Only 2 problems I have with this...
1)How do we make it so it's not weard that your born in to a bloodline as an adult?

2)How will bloodlines receive there "special power" in the first place?

I suggest that with the first release of slo
There will be no bloodlines.

An expantion could be released later called slo: bloodlines. That have Kekkei genki built in to prebalanced clans that only surviving kage ranked shinobi can choose from if we can salve the first question.

People are usually hyped when they find a new game and would usually want to jump right into the action and not wait ages until the clan leader comes online and accepts his request, so then he can create a character.

1) Basically it would be like your younger life already passed.

2)Possibly kages/extremely trusted members could be the birth of these bloodlines and the lines could be implemented before the full release so they actually have size once the game starts. So starting this idea in beta might be a good idea.

Though if the Clan system is like a guild system like in most MMO's, then the player can still play ahead without getting the clan specific traits yet.

These could be sent through a mail system as a consumable (Scroll like item/Pill) upon acceptance, which would unlock the traits for your character.

Of course this item has to be character bound etc.

Let's say that the system I mentioned will only be allowed for a characters age < 1 (or 2) week(s) from time of creation.
This will give the new player plenty of time as well to find another (more active) clan leader.

Let's say players have the option to be born into a clan and get the powers right away. Or marry into the clan later and obtain the bloodline specific powers if they aren't already in another bloodline. The kekkei genkei/bloodline power could be obtained through a clan ritual. The ritual could be performed by higher-ups after the new clan member completes clan specific requirements. This would allow for community building events of initiation, where any number of clan members can attend and congratulate.

No, I definitely have. This idea of being born into a clan is nowhere to be found. Thank you very much. If that was the case I'm sure I would've already been informed by other experienced members. Again, this is a suggestion.
