As the Shinobis returned to their tents, the civilians were prepared to leave the vicinity; their belongings stored upon carriages which were carried by strong, muscular Shinobi, who would escort them to their homes. The remaining tents were lit brightly as none of the bonfires were extinguished - it would seem that no one had any intention to lower their guards tonight.
Hisaki had just boiled some water at his bonfire to make some herbal tea and intended to share it with some of the ANBU. The tea was potent and it would make sure they would last tonight without sleep. They discussed some matters of urgency as they sipped their tea in turns and one by one, each quickly went on their way.
The shadows were on the move once again, investigating those who were awake still. If they weren’t awake, they’d take them to the ANBU tent for interrogation, knock them out again afterwards, wipe their memory and bring them back safely.
An unfamiliar shadow exited a dark tent and passed by the ANBU’s unseen to enter another tent.
“Huh!? Who is there!?” the habitant answered to the unwanted guest as he was caught off guard, but was quickly assaulted as the shadowy figure quickly grabbed a kunai and lunged at the habitant.
Stabbing the victim repeatedly in his chest, lower abdomen and shoulder, the assailant quickly left the scene.
One of the medic patrols walked by the victim’s tent, noticing a hand sticking out of the draping that covered the place and quickly entered the tent to find a severely injured man laying down. It was Hikaru of the Kirishima clan (Whatasnipe), no doubt. It would appear that he was the target for tonight.
“G-Go away! Leave me be!”, Hikaru gurgled and spitted.
“Relax! I’m here to help! Glad I could be here on time… Hold still and retain your strength.”, the man replied as a blue chakra engulfed his hands. He held his hands above the wounds, the wounds started to close with the blood slowly returning to the wounds they once so desperately exited.
“Thank you… I thought I was a goner” Hikaru replied.
The man shook his head and replied. “It was nothing on my end; it was good that you managed to crawl to the drapery, else I wouldn’t have been able to spot you.”
He continued: “Did you get a clue about whoever attacked you? Do you have any idea whatsoever?”
Hikaru shook his head in disappointment. “I’m afraid not, though everything is blurry for me right now.”
“I see.”, the man replied. “Well in any case, you should most definitely get some rest. I’ll contact the medic squad to have some extra men posted near you to keep you in check for tonight. Oh, and take this pill. It should allow you to store some chakra for increased internal healing rate. Just to be sure the medics don’t notice it in time, use it.”
He threw Hikaru a pouch and then left the tent, looking around it before quickly moving back to the Medic’s headquarters.
It would appear the assassin’s had targeted Hikaru – however, due to the skills of the Medic squad and the determination of Hikaru himself, his life had been saved, and no one died this night.
