Sprinting
« on: July 28, 2016, 02:21:27 »
Hi guys! I love your game btw!!!
I want to make a suggestion!
When your sprint, it's very unpractical.
My idea was to make Shift your core key to sprint.
It's much more practical, for example:

The longer you hold shift, the faster you get, instead of the Shift+Mouse combination because it's very tricky and confusing and sometimes that affects gameplay 'cause you can't turn your camera.
Anyways, it's just a suggestion. CYA!

Well, tbh the current shift and mouse combination is perfect.
As per your suggestion, one can't manipulate ones speed as freely as one can do now...
Example:-
Some experienced players here suddenly increase speed from rest to 60 for an effective and surprise chidori, if your idea is implemented, their method of playing will be affected.

Even I had problems in the beginning and still have sometimes (lel I'm just a month old here and not a typical gamer :P ) but trust me, the only thing better than the current controls will be VR (maybe)

Good luck :)

Wow this is so well put imo, i was gonna say the same thing the only problem i have with running is sometimes i press the shift key but i guess i don't press it hard enough that it doesn't activate so when i try to run my mouse goes everywhere and i get killed but that seems more like my problem everything else with the running system is fine to me, the only problem i have with the game so far are the wind bullets i hate that they still kill you when they pass you, and the VR part i doubt that would be implemented but if it did it would be interesting to watch in action i feel like there would be so many people complaining about dizziness

The only issues that i find with the sprinting speed increase is just at times my camera pans up to the sky and i cant see lol but its easily corrected by moving it back down but if im charging someone with a chidori then well i can possibly miss an attack. Overall though i find the system to be very efficient! so keep up the work Dev Team

Like anything, the more you practise, the better you will get. Your idea eliminates the possibility of blindingly fast acceleration and makes it far harder to accuratley adjust your speed.

If the shift button increases your speed then what will you press to hold it?

Furthermore, if you desire to run at 40km/h and run at 41 km/h will you have to stop running altogether and then build up from 0?

Everyone had problems adjusting to the system, however once you have it's incredibly effecient and greatly accurate. There's no point suggesting to change a system when all that is required to adjust to it is practise.

After all, no one here wants a game that a noob will find easy.

That would just be stupid.

I think you might be keeping your shift button pressed in, shift is only the speed regulation button, not the sprint button per se. After regulating your speed, you release shift and control your camera freely.

The only problem I have with it is you can't increase your speed and look around at the same time. If it was just the scroll wheel on the mouse it would salve that problem for me..

While that may seem like a good way to control it for many people, there are still 1) mice that do not have scroll wheels (Hard to imagine, I know)/Trackpads that are hard or impossible to scroll with while aiming, making this a useless feature, and 2) many, many broken or imprecise scroll wheels in the world. Wouldn't it be so annoying to accidentally go way too fast, or not be able to precisely set your speed? With the current system it may be difficult to start with, but it is by far the most precise way of doing it, and almost everyone playing the game has the ability and hardware to do it. With practise it becomes a simple, learnt movement.
