What I find weird about clans in naruto/slo

So a clan in ancient japan were generally a family related by blood/adoption. But in Slo/Naruto the clans are a large group of people united under one last name and flag. They all share the same blood traits, thus kekkei genkei, but they are very large. Aaand you see that two people of the same clan marry and have children. That's weird right? Right? I mean, usually a clan is family members, but is it different in naruto/slo? Is it more like a race of people that share the same surname? I mean, honestly I like the idea of naruto/clans and everything, but if they are blood related then isn't it incest when they have children? Honestly it'd make sense if clans were more like races rather than families.

Am I over thinking it? I think i'm overthinking it.

Yes, you're overthinking it....
In our world, it's practically not possible to get all your family watch naruto or play SLO... so you create/join an online family, bond with them and have fun
And about reproduction in clans... I don't think something like that exists... even if it did.. that must be quite history... cuz incest was common in Egyptian civilization (dunno about the japs tho)

When a man marries a woman, the woman (usually) takes the family name of the husband, thus she becomes part of the clan. However, people born in the respective clan: Himitsu, Akagi etc. share those traits listed in the clan thread.
I asked myself the same question, so I came up with a history idea that clarifies the incest things within the clan I am part of (Kirishima).

A race is what we all are, human. But, some humans look different, have different blood, have different traits and shit.

A clan in Naruto is just a family name, example: Minato Namikaze.  Namikaze is literally unknown as a family, that's just one of the regular families.

Hyuga and Uchiha, are clans/families that has been there a long time, and their blood gives unique traits to their kin.

It's all a matter of families but their family blood gives them unique traits.

A lot of clans are big, so it doesn't necessarily need to be incest if they marry someone from clan, also like Konohuro said most of them probably marry people from different clan and women takes last name.
But there probably is some incest and inbreeding in smaller clans and smaller villages.

Irl your in-direct family is huge too, it's kinda like that here but the family is more, "similar", I guess, just something you don't try to question, else you'll be thinking about this your whole life :O

Also, side note, perhaps it's more like 3-4 people started the clan, their descendants bred with each other and formed a huge clan with similar traits to each other, kinda like a treaty that their descendants would only breed with each other  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
