Finding other players on the map

It's currently very hard to find people in-game, as there are no significant landmarks on the map. Mars and I were wondering if either

A) We could get some memorable, obvious landmarks - Even just simple untextured buildings would be good, just to jump around etc.


Or


B) The minimap as a compass, with one direction set as North etc. For example, you would be able to tell someone to meet you in the North-East corner...

I vote for the buildings even if they are gray and dead.
Just something else instead of just a rock.
