Chapter 21
[Hidden Forest, Borderline]
7:45AM, Day 8
KamikoKamiko began to dream of Arashi in her unconscious state and how he looked out for her when they were kids. They were both close growing up even though she didn't join the Himitsu till much later in her life. He was always there when she needed him, always around at the right time to defend her honor from low scum like it was destiny, like they was family all along.
"Kamiko!" a voice yelled to her. "Kamiko, c'mon! I don't hit
that hard!"
Kamiko awoke with her eyes adjusting to the daylight and the smell of food being cooked over the sound of a fire. A gentle breeze was in the air and the sound of the leaves from the trees could be heard.
"A camp? Where are we?" Kamiko asked looking around at everyone with their battle injuries taken care of including her own. Bandages wrapped around her arm, head and both legs.
"We are in Hidden Forest borders, don't worry now. Here, eat up." Satomi handed her a bowl of soup she had made.
Kamiko took it in her hands slowly and looked around some more. "Where is Arashi?" Kamiko asked in a soft tone, scared of the answer that would come from Satomi's lips.
Satomi's pleasant smile dropped slightly, turning into a frown of sorrow. "We haven't heard from him yet, but don't worry! He is strong y'kno!" Satomi explained, trying to be positive of such a dire situation.
"Yeah, if there is anyone who can beat the odds, it's that guy." Zakari stated whilst rubbing his head after being woken up by their conversation.
Kamiko couldn't help but worry. "How did things get so bad so quickly?"
"We didn't expect them to be so strong is all." Raishi said from his resting point in the trees being on the lookout; A little angry that he had to retreat from the battle.
"You got that right." Kenshi spoke in agreement to Raishi whilst holding the same anger.
A roar could be heard from the distance, making the birds take flight from the trees. A roar so loud it could only be associated with one single thing and that was the great demon Akuma.
The group looked at each other in fear and in the direction the roar came from. Kamiko's hands began to shake in fear at the sound, tears building up in her eyes. She threw the bowl of soup at the nearby tree and it smashed against it.
The group fell silent, no one said a word. The silence grew with the tension building from it. The sound of the grass in the wind is all that could be heard now.
"We need to keep moving." Satomi said with sorrow in her voice and the group agreed as they put out the fire and packed their things to head back to the village where they must break the news of what had happened between Kirishima and Himitsu and that war was coming. A war greater than both clans.
As they arrived and unpacked in their own homes, Kamiko took it on herself to speak with Onimaro before going to the Kage of the Forest.
She knocked on his door. "Sir." Kamiko said, standing tall as a proud Himitsu member.
Onimaro let her into his home and Mika hugged Kamiko tight, happy to see her friend safe and sound.
"What happened? You don't look like you come from a victorious battle at all.. No offence." Onimaro stated after seeing the bandages wrapped around Kamiko's injuries and sat down at the dining room table with her and Mika.
"You're right to think that.. I failed you, sir." Kamiko looked down at the wooden floor, disappointed with the outcome of the battle.
Kamiko went on to explain everything in detail. How they was ambushed by the Kirishima, how they put up a valiant fight, how 2 of the Kirishima managed to turn the tables and, more importantly, the effort given by Arashi to get them out alive against the summoned demon Akuma.
Onimaro was shocked. He knew the Kirishima was strong but he was not aware of this much power. He looked at Mika with determination to fix this, and Mika knew he would.
"Alert the Kage of what happened. tell him I am going to need to pay a visit to my good friends in Hidden Hill. This is far from over." Onimaro commanded Kamiko and she agreed knowing more was to come of this. Giving Mika one more hug.
"Stay safe." Mika told her friend with a slight smile and Kamiko nodded before exiting their home and taking the path to the Kage's office.
"This has just became personal for me." Kamiko muttered to herself.
