Chapter 10
[Hidden Forest Village, The Academy Exam Hall]
7:05AM, Day 5
KuraiThe exam hall wasn't as big as you'd think. Hidden Forest had a small population so there was no need for a big room. Though, there was enough room to fit 100 students. 2 of which being Kurai and Kazuki. As they looked around, they saw ninja from all of the other villages. This didn't scare them though, what scared them was the writing on the booklets in front of them. These questions were seriously hard for the exam and the instructor began to speak.
"Some of you may have noticed the ninja to my left.." The man held his left arm out.
"..And the ninja to my right." He did the same with the right arm.
"These are Jonin level Sensory type ninja. They will know if you cheat." The man explained.
The man was a well known ninja of the Hidden Forest. He had been Kages personal ANBU until he retired to be a teacher within the village. He had many battle scars and a strict attire. He had the ANBU tattoo on his left arm and a long sleeve covering his other arm. Though, this was his personal outfit he customised from his ANBU outfit.
"Caught cheating and you're out of the class, caught shouting, hitting or manipulating the Sensory type ninja in any way will be forbidden. You may begin." The man finished talking and sat at his desk, watching each and every one of them.
Kazuki gulped as he turned the page to the test. He looked at Kurai and Kurai grinned, nodding at his brother with a confident look in his eye.
After 15 minutes of being in the test, 6 students had already been removed without warning which put everyone on edge. There was no clear sign they broke the rules but the Sensory type ninja seemed to be sure and they were trusted by the head examiner.
Kurai finished his exam and the examiner told the room how there was 30 minutes left in the exam.
Kurai saw his brother struggling, with the paper. He was clearly nervous as Kazuki had the brain of a Jonin rank ninja and Kurai did not want to see his brother fail.
Kurai thought fast and remembered the switch out scroll their uncle gave them.
Kurai got Kazuki's attention and pointed at the scroll on his side.
He then signalled Kazuki to do as he did.
Kurai laid the small scroll out on the table and put the booklet on top.
With a quick, small poof the booklets had been switched without anyone noticing.
Kurai quickly finished the booklet his brother started with no time to spare.
"Okay! No more writing! The exam is over!" The man yelled, slamming his hand on the desk.
Everyone quickly dropped their pencils.
"Anyone who didn't finish their papers all the way should leave now." The man said more calmly.
The students looked at each other in disbelief and started talking amongst each other.
The man got irritated. "NOW!" He shouted and as he did nearly half the room left the hall.
Those who were left sat and stared forward, awaiting further instructions.
"The rest of you may hand in your booklets and leave the hall. You'll get a letter from us in the mail tomorrow if you failed or passed." He instructed the class and they did as they were told.
As they lined up, Kurai held the booklet to his back, signalling Kazuki to switch back due to the names on the front and he did it quickly, still unseen by the ninja as they stopped being alert now the exam was over.
As the boys left, they saw their parents waiting for them. "How did you do?!" Mika chimed at her boys.
They both grinned and sniggered, explaining how they fooled the Sensory types with ease.
"Thanks again bro. I owe you one!" Kazuki said to his brother happily.
Kurai laughed. "You knew the answers, you just choked up so I wrote them for you." He explained.
The family headed home for lunch, happier than when they left in the morning.
