Jump should consume chakra only when you detach from the ground. At the moment, chakra is drain even when you are in mid air, when in fact- in my opinion- chakra should be spent only when you launch, after this you don't use chakra anymore.
Actually jump only consumes chakra when you jump, what you're seeing in the chakra bar is the linear decreasing of that original consumption. It doesn't go from 1000 to 950 instantly, it builds down from 1000 to 950 in linear fashion.

But something contradicts. If I do a normal jump on a flat surface, the chakra decreases like you said but If I jump on a sloped area like a mountain: from the bottom to the pick, the chakra will stop decreasing when I land which means it stops faster. But I may be wrong, I haven't tried it repeatedly to confirm this.
I'm pretty sure that doesn't happen.

im pretty sure it's coincidence. Think about it. Lets say it takes 2 seconds for the chakra to decrease to the amount that it used to jump. If you jump on a normal flat surface, it probably takes 4 seconds to land, so the chakra finished decreasing while you are still in the air. Now, if you were jumping up a mountain, it will take much less time to land because the place where you land will be higher then from where you jumped. This jump may only take 2 seconds, causing the point where you land to be sort of synchronized with when the chakra depletion finishes.

A shinobi's strength is not measured by how many ninja he/she kills, or how much jutsu he/she possesses. The strength of a shinobi is measured by how much ramen he/she can consume in one go.

well, i think it would be better if jump and dodge used stamina instead of chakra
