Description of the character's personality and habits: A hard worker and always diligent in her task but can forget her own personal needs. Friendly and accepting but may get suspicious easily if there is reason to be. She isn't a particularly excitable person but neither is she calm and collected, rather she is in between. Used to have a habit of walking with he arms behind her head but stopped when she realised it left her completely open to attack. Still has a habit of cracking her knuckles. Tends to rock back on her heels when stationary and bored. She always likes to be doing something when she is with people or inside but when out by herself she takes long walks and soaks in the world. She can often be found somewhere just outside the village lying on the ground and enjoying life. If not, she'll be flitting around the Hidden Haze and chatting with people. She gained a love of books and a hate for unneeded violence from her best friend Ryuto. She aims to be someone who can help others with her skills.
Description of the character's history:
Kanji's mother left her father when she was young and left him to look after her, they parted on reasonably good terms but haven't seen each other since. Kanji's father, Jiro, always had a passion for sealing and scrolls, hence Kanji's name, which was passed down to his daughter. However she soon began to favour the sword and wished to become a ninja, unlike her father, who was pushed into it and liked learning but was too much of a pacifist to want to apply his skills.
When Kanji was seven turning eight Jiro's income took a dive and they were unable to continue renting the house they lived in so they moved in with another single parent family in the same situation, Kiyomi and her son Ryuto, who was two years older than Kanji.
Ryuto's father was part of a small "clan" (who were really more of an extended family) that specialised in kenjutsu. He had lived with Kiyomi and Ryuto but had died on a mission when Ryuto was just about to turn seven. The family had planned on training Ryuto but after his father died Kiyomi decided Ryuto could use some time away and they'd ended up settling down so much that they never went back, only visited.
Kanji and Ryuto quickly became friends and Kanji told Ryuto of her wish to become a shinobi while Ryuto told her of his wish not to be, as he preferred peace and would rather be a diplomat. Ryuto soon noticed Kanji's love of the sword and began teaching her the few basics he'd learned from his father and talking to her about his family's techniques. Though he only knew the theory and had only seen them in practise when he saw his fathers family train. Ryuto was Kanji's best friend and brother in arms and they always shared their views and ideas with one another, discussing and chatting about everything and anything. Kanji began to understand why Ryuto felt the way he did about violence and though she still wanted to become a ninja, she vowed to use her skills to help people.
She began to get better and better, until she could truly be called actually quite good for her age but she lived in a small town with no ninja academy so getting further training when she was old enough could be difficult and she ight not be prepared. However, a year after they began living together, Ryuto's family visited and asked him to train with them but when they arrived, they saw a figure outside in the rain, practising with a wooden sword. They thought it was Ryuto and became pleased that he was already diligent enough in his training to practise rain or shine but as they neared, they noticed the hooded figure was quite different. It was Kanji, who never forgot to make sure she practised, whatever the weather.
After some arguments and Ryuto pushing the point that he had no interest but there was someone who did, they convinced Ryuto's family to train Kanji instead, who happily went with them and used her friendliness to quickly be accepted and soon found out that her chakra was very similar to Ryuto's, which meant they could train her in more than just plain sword skills. While there, she often sat in the library and began to understand Ryuto's love of reading, taking up the hobby herself.
When she became old enough, Kanji left by herself to travel to Heizugakure to go to the Academy there, her bag loaded with books, scrolls, clothes and tons of food from Kiyomi, who practically considered herself Kanji's mother, Ryuto, who knew all her favourite snacks, and Jiro, who's cooking was terrible but nobody had the heart to tell him that.
Her last words before leaving were "Maybe the next time we meet it'll be on an escort mission! I promise I'll become a good enough kunoichi to protect you when you're a super diplomat, Ryuto! See ya!"
She now lives in Heizugakure and attends the academy, though she hopes to become a genin soon.
Her story and age will be updated as we go along. She's not going to be young forever as you can see at the top. I just want to wait to get more ideas (and for me to become a better player so I don't end up RPing a character more powerful than me). I'm not sure how tall she is "right now" in the story but she's about 5,8 when she's twelve and 5,11 when she's 15 (as you can see at the top).
You can see her in my profile picture.
