Title: Taijutsu Mechanics and Scrolls
Post by: StrawHatSeyi on August 15, 2015, 23:37:29
I think that Taijutsu should be simple. Ninjutsu is hard enough, if Ninjutsu is like Taijutsu, it's rip for me. So I think, the left click should be for Taijutsu. I know this sounds easy and all but hear me out. You start with 4 slots when you're a genin. You have to get scrolls to unlock a single move like "upwards kick". When you have enough combos, you put them in order of how you like to fight. For example in the first slot it would have "left jab" in the second slot it would have "low kick. In the third slot it would have "right uppercut". And in the fourth slot it could have "right hook".

On to my second point, how you get scrolls that contain techniques. In your village, every time you complete a mission, you could get a random scroll, but a scroll based around your ELO level. So nothing OP. You could also buy scrolls from the scroll shop, but the better the technique, the more expensive.

That sounds good but what if the right click was for block and left click for ninjutsu. Would it be clicking when you don't have an active jutsu or something else like the "t" key for taijutsu mode or something.

Good question, I think the T thing is a good idea.

There could be certain NPCs that are "Taijutsu Masters" or something, and so by sparring with them often, you gradually pick up moves... Idk though, I think the original idea was good too.

I disagree with the first idea. I think it would be better if taijutsu required skill to do it but then it's more rewarding , this way you could make  up for the exp stat we don't have.

So basically you get scrolls for basic moves (I think it should be the sparring thing that Jcryer said to learn moves.) put those moves in a 4 slot order and just spam right click to fight someone using Taijutsu? That seems way too basic.

In my opinion, I think Taijutsu should be a key for a move.
Example:
C - Jab (Random left or right)
V - Kick (Random left or right)
B - Sweep (Random left or right)
N - Uppetcut (Random left or right)

Any other moves could be added to different keys. The reason I picked those keys were the fact they're close to WASD, which is for moving so therefore you are not stretching your hand to reach the keys as surely your other hand will be busy using the mouse to aim. These keys could later be changeable in settings to fit the users preference though.

As for combo moves, which will be Taijutsu B-A-S ranked jutsu, could be a combo of the keys. This is similar to most fighting games such as Mortal Kombat.
Example:
C+C+V = Bullet Fist Barrage (Totally made up but it could be multiple landed hits of fists that can't be blocked, does minor damage and takes a bit of chakra)
C+N+V+B+C = Sweeping Ground Pound (I know.. I suck at making names for Taijutsu.. This could be a sweeping tackle and multiple heel kicks slamming them into the ground multiple times)

You get the idea.. The longer the combo the more damage the combo will do but the more chakra it will take.
What do you think, @StrawHatSeyi, does this sound good to you?

Ahhhhh yeah I like this that idea a lot Leebz. But take this into consideration. When you're a genin, you won't be at your physical peak. So even if you do spam left click, the moves will be relatively slow. To train physical strength, you could spar, or there could be a some exercises, like push ups. But your idea, yeah that'll be cool to put in, so if you are a taijutsu user, people won't bitch saying "all you do is spam left click, you have no skill"

Everything else is keyboard related, might as well make taijutsu and everything else, this will most likely be a skilled based video game, which will come out as amazing. Different buttons can make different combos for taijutsu.

there is a problem with targeting too!!!!! first i would set the tab button for scrolling throw opponents within 10-20 feet in the screen in front of you. i would suggest that there should be like a taijutsu stance(T)...button that locks the opponent in the center screen and fallows his movement so if he moves behind you some how with a flash step or the like the camera fallows him. if he moves out of the targeting range of 10 -20 feet before you hit the taijutsu button you lose target and have to get closer.

as far as the the suggestions so far i like the idea of custamizing combos but left click is to easy
J=jab
K=kick
L=sweep
is good
;=but you should have a counter that can be added in to a combo with this button lay out

with the camera lock this opens up the option to ad power using the direction buttons in combinations ---- like d+j= hard punch
at any time ether player can hit A twice(AA) to exit the camera lock
combos can be learned and unlock but must be in you inventory and practiced to gain power and
effectiveness... i would also like to see eventually  some place you can create your own combo
by using moves you already have learned in different combinations but that would be much latter

i know this is starting to look like a D.O.A. combo book but when i think taijutsu thats what i imagine..the same stance option may be able to be applied to kenjutsu
lol.....soul caliber

A soft lock might be a good compromise.
The camera will focus on your enemy,until he moves away fast and you dont follow his movements at least a bit.
But there definatly should be SOME kind of lock for taijutsu.
Otherwise,it will be extremely hard to hit someone,because the fights here are very fast paced.
Esspecially with melee attacks,it will be hard.
It can take 10 minutes right now to kill someone  in a duel(not saying it always takes that long,though).
And now imagine that your opponent doesnt want to fight back and is just running,jumping and dodging to reach the nearest city,so you cant kill him.
This will be very very hard without any kind of camera lock,at least how it is now.
Also,no one will use the block option later,if its so easy to dodge attacks.

 I agree the soft lock is probably the best option for standard play .  I was thinking a hard lock for a learned ability for extreme taijutsu,  at higher levels....  Sense if you spend that much time using taijutsu then  it should be more difficult for your opponent to get out of range of your attacks...

For the counter button I would recommend implementing a system similar to
the game Lugaru, where shift blocks, but only when pressed right before the attack.
(In real life, you have to see and intercept your opponents blows in order to block em...
Holding your hands in front of your face will only get you so far xD)
Pressing an attack button right after that initiates a counterattack
which can also be blocked and counterattacked ultra-fast... You should try Lugaru sometime
to see what I'm talking about, it gets really crazy sometimes!
Also, after getting sweeped and falling, pressing jump twice rapidly should recover mid-fall.
Training will improve in-game reaction speed.

mamita....... i love the recovery idea!!!!!!!! and i agree that counters should be timed correctly

all of this is long way off i think right now i would be happy to see a punch and kick with some kind of targeting system
