Title: Item Locking System
Post by: Raenir on January 25, 2015, 02:09:18
I think it would be neat if you could "lock" an item in your inventory. Essentially if items are one click to use, you could make it to where a particular item cannot be clicked on. Just as a precaution to accidentally clicking on an item that you may be wanting to save for later etc.

this is a good idea, but it should be limited, like only 5 items can be locked

I really don't see use for this lol... but such function would not do harm, thumb up. and if is implemented then...
...it should be limited, like only 5 items can be locked.

It could be useful in the future

If we want lock things then we have to buy chests/boxes with locks and there should be a limit to how many items a chest or box can hold and we can't buy too many chests or boxes only like two to five depending on the size as the bigger the chest or box the more items it can hold.

A chest or box would defeat the purpose of keeping the item in your inventory. A chest/box would fall under the category of storage.

Don't you put a small box in your bag? The same comes here like a small chest or box can be kept in your inventory

Well if that's the case, i still find the box to be a little excessive. But if this idea is to be implemented, i don't really care how it is done. Box or no box, as long as you can keep the item from being used i suppose.

The easy solution for this is having scrolls:

Those can contain any sort of item from what we know. So no need for boxes, which would arguably be impossible to carry around. At least many of them. You can put tons of scrolls in a backpack. No real need, or use for such a function.

Good idea but I didn't think summoning things would be implemented or does it only apply to summoning animals?

As you can see in that gif, they're used for the storage of weaponry as well, so I don't see why armor and other kind of things could not be stored in such a scroll.

Yeah that's true scrolls is abetter idea, scrolls can contain many different things, but should you learn to use them first? as a skill?

Well, it is some sort of fuinjutsu after all. I doubt it would be something very challenging to learn though, it looks like a common jutsu.

Yeah, the kind of jutsu you learn as very basic, but still is a jutsu that you would need to learn somehow.

I doubt it would be something very challenging to learn though

Just out of curiosity, why would limiting how many of your items can be locked matter? It would have no effect on anybody or anything if you had 5 items or 20 items locked. If anything, you would be hindering yourself with the more items you lock.

How would it make storage obsolete? Locking an item doesn't increase your inventory. That is the point of storage. A way to keep items that otherwise would not fit in your inventory. The whole point of locking an item is that it is still in your inventory (taking up space), and at your disposal at the time you would need it. If i need an item and it is in my storage, then i have no means of using the item as it is not in my inventory.

As this has gone on I am slowly seeing how this is useless xD

Well it is not supposed to be some game changing mechanic. More of just something that could be situationally helpful.
