Title: Traps #2
Post by: StrawHatSeyi on January 25, 2015, 02:01:33
While the leaf genin (naruto, neji choji and kiba) were on a retrieval mission to get sasuke back (captained my shikamaru), Shikamaru mentioned a perimeter barrier. A trap ninjutsu that includes four paper bombs in a square. Once a person enters basically the middle of this square they get blown up. In the game, you won't necessarily die once getting caught in this trap, but you will lose a bit of life.

An example

I could definitely see something like this, or similar to this being implemented.

There is a button that you could have used to modify the previous topic... but whatever.

Yeah, this would be an easier but still effective kind of trap to make.

Would these traps have some method of being detected/deactivated?
Title: Re: Traps #2

@Raenir Just by entering the perimeter

@Raenir Just by entering the perimeter

if you enter the perimeter of the trap, it will go off will it not?

i asked about deactivating them. Not blowing them up

I think that's his way of saying, it cannot be deactivated

@Raenir Unless the person who set the paper bombs take one down, then obviously it will be ineffective.

This is suited for a sensory ninja, once the user senses chakra from inside the boundaries he activates the paper bombs.

Well if this is to be implemented, then there should definitely be a way to deactivate the bomb, or at least be able to detect them before walking through them. If not, you could just lay as many as you'd like all around where ever you so desire. And no one can do anything about it except blow up on them. That would be silly and over powered.

Yeah i guess you're right, i mean i could just get around them if i see it, but as you said they could put many around an area, so since this game will develop different types of "skills" or abilities, there could be a "Caution" ability that if you have it on a high level such ability you could detect a bomb 20 meters away.

@rayzote Yeah, thats a good idea. Like an alert on the screen

But since the game is based on reality i'm not sure if SLO is suppose to challenge your skills or the skills of your character, if you know what i mean. If your eyes detect a bomb, that's your skill. But if the character detects the bomb, then that's the character ability.

So you would have no problem if people laid down enough bombs to sufficiently cover an entire area and you would have no way of detecting this "mine field"? It just sounds overpowered to me.

Saying so, a "Caution" skill or ability sounds nice*:3

@Raenir Well, there can be a certain amount of paper bombs you can place at a time
Title: Re: Traps #2
Post by: Raenir on January 28, 2015, 00:13:30
Yes, that would definitely help Straw. But, if Vreg is right in his assumption of thousands of players, then even if everyone could only play 2 traps or so( just an example), that would still be a lot of traps on the ground :P

Post by: StrawHatSeyi on January 28, 2015, 01:24:38
@Raenir No, the amount of paper bombs you're allowed to place at a time, i.e 5
Title: Re: Traps #2
Post by: Raenir on January 28, 2015, 01:30:07
That still goes back to my previous post. If every person played 5 paper bombs and you have towns with 1000 people in them, that is still 1000 traps. That is what i'm trying to say
Title: Re: Traps #2

There should be a way you can detect these traps and have a caution ability like I get an alertand I look around to see if there is a trap around me or in my path

That what i said.... lol

Yeahh <3 Why don' t put similar kind of trap, like frozen traps that blocks you for a certain period of time ( not just lose a bit of life, cause for the moment there isn't the life bar xD ) during the frozen event in the server ( like between 2or+ trees, or just hidden in the ground, but put in a way in which you can see them ) ?? :) I think that it can make the game a little more enjoyable, cause they ll make you having to pay more attention on what move do ;)

Maybe traps could expire and be removed from the map if it isn't activated in a certain amount of time.
e.g if Shivraj placed a trap outside the village hidden in the thunder, and no one stepped on it one minute after he'd placed it (at the most) it would disappear and maybe it could be moved back to his inventory.

Well the problem is in real life the trap would still be there if not detonated after a period of time. Thats where the time aspect you are talking about comes in. The only things that would make a trap disappear in real life would be springing it, weather, moving it, or age. The time should be longer, however.
