Title: Traps
Post by: StrawHatSeyi on January 25, 2015, 01:38:27
Remember when Kisame killed himself, and Guy opened that scroll! The scroll was boobie traped with water prison jutsu by Kisame. In the game, it would be cool to see jutsu cast on scrolls, and it would be triggered by obviously opening it. So for example if the mission was to retrieve a scroll from the hidden inferno containing intel, the hidden inferno ninja guarding the scroll could put a trap/sealing jutsu on the scroll, so if they were to be beat in battle, the ninja trying to get the scroll would be in for a a nasty surprise

Here's an example

(Guy, naruto, yamato and others are all in the water prison if you can't see clearly.

I believe jutsu scrolls and scroll traps are gonna be in SLO, but i doubt something like that could happen in the game, so to me, trap scroll triggered by opening doesn't sounds a very good idea. But this is just me. :3

It's a good idea, but a lot of people don't know what's in their inventory or they might accidentally click on a trapped scroll of theirs and gg hardcore character.

I don't see this being a good idea either but that's just my opinion.
Why would anyone need scrolls in SLO? It worked for the series because of intel and sending messages to fellow org members and such but to send intel to fellow members of a clan or org will be done in private message or skype, not by some scroll.

Pretty much, or you could just send them a message in game. If you meant summoning scrolls, Vreg isn't a fan of them so I don't think they'll be in game.

Wouldn't GMs be able to see all the PMs? That way Intel can leak out if sent via PMs

@Leebz @Shivraj Have a look at Traps #2

PM are private man lol, that's why they're are private messages, GMs can't read them.

I dont support this for various reasons.
One of them being insta killed when you open one just because you had to open it.

@Reminance @Leebz @Shivraj WHY DON'T YOU GUYS CHECK TRAPS #2
Title: Re: Traps

A GM Should and most likely will have the ability to read PMs. It'd be illogical if they couldn't...
With that said, a PM is a Private Message, and will remain Private. If a GM abuses his powers to leak information then he/she should be punished. The only reason for them to be able to read PMs would to regulate conversations and search for anything prohibited. Done and done.

Could you stop it please, i know you're not talking to me, but i've read this in the chatbox and here, just stop it, in the first place you could have edited this topic instead of making a new one....

Reading Private Messages, so wrong if you ask me lol.

Reading Private Messages, so wrong if you ask me lol.

So what you're saying is that GMs shouldn't be able to monitor a chat system built into a game they're supposed to... monitor? Odd.
I see nothing wrong with GMs reading through PMs to check for anything prohibited. It'd honestly be stupid -NOT- to. If they were to not monitor it then Vreg'd literally be giving them a secure line to do chat about/do prohibited things.

@Reminance @Leebz @Shivraj WHY DON'T YOU GUYS CHECK TRAPS #2
1. I said in chat I saw it already
2. The fact you made 'Trap #2' was pointless. Learn to use the edit button
3. Stop asking and begging people to check it out, it's frustrating like Rayzote said

They're suppose to monitor the public chat, not the private chat! #PRIVATE  lol i really don't get how you're saying that.

What you're saying is just illogical, it honestly is. PMs are intended for you to speak to someone without allowing other players to read what has been typed. Put to a bigger scale, what you're saying would be the same as saying "It's wrong for the government to monitor the internet!" Why do they monitor the internet? To catch people doing illegal things.

#PRIVATE doesn't exist, and it frankly doesn't matter. A GM will be doing his/her job when they read PMs, not caring about what you and your friends are planning. Don't do/type anything suspicious and I doubt your PMs will even be reviewed.

This conversation is pointless seeing as Vreg has already confirmed giving GMs the power to monitor PMs. It -is- the only sensible route, so no surprise here.

I'm not taking sides in this PM argument, but I just have a question for rayzote. How often will people be private messaging something in an MMO, that they don't want someone to see? 9/10 private messages, I would assume anyways, are going to be in some form of fashion related to the game.

Well, i don't think GMs are reading anyone's PMs, i guess the first have a reason to do so.
I posted that before we talked in the chatbox by the way.

It's not about whether if i want someone to see it, but about being a Private Message, but i already discussed this.

This is a post about traps goddammit!! hahaha :P just kidding i started this and i end it.

He's not begging, he's calling you a post-count whore who should learn to use the modify button.
He's not being unreasonable, you are.

And for the topic of GM's reading PM's, I support it. How are they meant to know if someone's just messaged their friend "Oh hey look at these new hacks I've got for SLO!".
I'm sure they won't abuse it, and they will only read it if there are certain words in the message like hack, cheat, bully etc.
